Silver Sharbati spreads joy in Jordan Saudi News

Jordanian taekwondo player Saleh Al-Sharbati won the silver medal in the first Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 for Jordan, adding the Kingdom’s second medal in the history of its participation in the Olympics.

Al-Sharbati, the 2021 Asian champion, reached the under-80 kg final in taekwondo and thus secured a medal, but he was unable to win the gold medal after losing to Russian player Maxim Kharmov.

In the quarter-finals, Al-Sharbati overtook Moroccan Ashraf Mahboubi, with a score of 1715. He won his first victory in the heavyweight competition over the Norwegian Richard Ordman, with a score of 54.

Taekwondo player Ahmed Abu Ghosh gave Jordan its first Olympic medal when it won the gold in the 68 kg weight category in Rio de Janeiro 2016.

The Jordanian player Juliana Al-Sadiq lost her fight to the Brazilian player Melina Titonelli by preference after a 99th draw in the under-67 kg competition.
