Search operations have begun after a US Navy helicopter crashed in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California, the US military announced.
The helicopter of the aircraft carrier “Abraham Lincoln” was on a “routine flight” about 100 meters from the coast of San Diego when the accident occurred Tuesday, according to a tweet from the US Navy’s commander for the Pacific region.
“Search and rescue operations are underway by various air and sea means, with the participation of the Coast Guard and the Navy,” the tweet read.
He did not specify how many people were in the helicopter.
